Well it’s already almost the end of February, but I wanted to share some favorites for January. I am a tad bit late, but its okay. We’ll call it fashionably late!
Anyways, when reading other bloggers posts, a lot of them either have extensive gift guides, YouTube videos on their seasonal favorites, and pretty much sharing what they love. It is a pretty cool way to get opinions from people you trust before trying something new. Let me tell you it took me SO LONG to try eggplant because I was doing all this research on it.
Mind you eggplant is legit $2 at Trader Joe’s never mind you if I am thinking about purchasing something that is a couple hundred dollars. I just want to make sure I will like and not waste money you know?
This leads me to create a monthly favorites guide to helpfully help you pull the trigger on something you have been eyeing! Also, it helps me get outside of my comfort zone and make it easier for me to spend a little doe now and then. None of this is sponsored or affiliated these are all my genuine opinions! I’ll be sure to let you know if anything is affiliated #transparency.
Let’s get into January’s Favorites!
Starting off with my favorite category: food! There are one thing that I have been excessively in my meal prep lately. Its two words…chicken thighs! I don’t know why it took me so long to try these. My favorite way to cook them is roasting them for a solid hour with a couple spices. You can check out the recipe here!
I’m the type of person who like to finish off almost every meal with some dark chocolate. EatingEvolved midnight coconut bar or coconut cups hit the spot every time! I like to store them in the fridge or freezer as it makes them taste 10x better. I do have my eye on customizing some bars in the future. Have you tried that out yet?
I have always been into going for long walks when it is warm up. However, with Charlotte I have learned to love going on walks in the cold. Sometimes it is too cold to go, but it is refreshing to go outside and breathe in fresh air. That’s the one thing I miss during the winter is having my windows open. Even with classes, I will park further away from my class to get more steps.
As I work through my gut issues, Beautycounter charcoal bar has been saving my skin. I still get minor breaks due to stress, but the bar stops it before it becomes inflamed. If you do have super sensitive skin like mine I recommend a moisturizer or slowly working up to using it daily. There are no harmful chemicals or toxins in any of the beautycounter products! Plus, the bar last forever.
The copaiba oil is a life changing oil. I have mainly been using to decrease inflammation in my gut, but it has so many other benefits! Copaiba is known to help ease anxiety when diffused or used topically. It also can help you immune and cardiovascular system when taken in water or veggie capsule. It is perfect for these winter months! Plus, it can also with acne too. It is truly a powerhouse.
I listened to so many podcasts while commuting to class or just doing homework. It was hard to narrower it done to one podcast for sure. The one that stuck out to me must was Christina Rice’s podcast on female sexuality. It truly punched me in the face as being comfortable with myself sexually and seeing myself as a sexual woman is hard. It really pushes you to see yourself differently as a woman. I highly recommend you check it out here!
Lately I have been really into reading murder novels. And by murder novels I mean any novel involving crime. I honestly find it more interesting to read rather than watching a movie or television. An oldie, but a goodie is Helter Skelter. It gives first hand accounts of the Charles Manson murders. You’re honestly reading a documentary that you’d see on Netflix. What type of genre books do you like to read?
I do hope you enjoy the first installment of the health and wellness favorites! I would love to know if there are any products you’d recommend or if you have tried anything I have liked too. Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Pinterest for the latest on Sara’s Simple Eats.
Thank you so so much for reading all the way to the end! You are truly a gem and I will type to you in the next one!
