When I used to go to Whole Foods, I would either buy everything or nothing. If it was on sale I bought and if it wasn’t I’d justify buying it (then end up putting it on a random shelf).
However, now I am able to go into Whole Foods, buy what I want, and leave. My bank account is no longer screaming at me to stop. There are definitely other ways to get the same products for cheaper, but there’s nothing better than going to the grocery store.
It may just be me, but I love going to the grocery store and exploring what new products they have. However, I want to ensure that everyone has access to great quality products. Everyone deserves to have clean meats and produce! These next couple paragraphs will be all the tips I use when shopping at Whole Foods.
Tip 1): Get an Amazon Prime Account!
I am sure everyone has this, but you never know. Having an Amazon Prime account means access to exclusive sales and additional savings. One products that have a yellow sales tag, prime members get an extra 10% off. It doesn’t sound like much, but it adds up! Download the Whole Foods to use at the store to get the discounts. Plus, that is how you see exclusive deals for the week.
Tip 2): Go in with a Plan!
I cannot count how many times I go in without a list and come out with more items than I need. It is best to go in with a list to follow. Whole Foods doesn’t list all of their deals, so it is okay to pick something up that is a killer deal. Some deals I have seen are 2/$7 Siete Chip, 50% off Primal Kitchen, and others. The circulars come out on Wednesday, so that is the day I generally start listing what I need for the week.
Tip 4): Walk the Perimeter First!
This makes it 10x easier to fill your cart with wholesome foods. You will walk by all the produce, dairy, meats, and prepared items. This gives you the opportunity to buy what you need and then you can go to the center aisle for specialty items. A good tip for the produce aisle is to buy seasonally to save extra money. I have a complete guide of seasonal produce per month that you can get here! More often times than not seasonal items are on sale too.
Tip 5): Don’t be Afraid to go to Other Stores!
I love Whole Foods just like the next person who care about their health. However, there are just some items I can’t justify buying. Whole Foods is where I get a lot of my specialty products and produce. Unfortunately, my Trader Joe’s doesn’t have much of a variety, but they ALWAYS have the cheapest organic produce. Mind you, you don’t have to buy all organic. Check out my dirty dozen and clean fifteen guide here and save $$$!
To make your shopping trip a bit easier, I created a guide that has all the produce perfect for those following paleo or who just want great quality items! The list does include dairy, which if you’re paleo ignore that section. It is completely mobile friendly and I hope it inspires you try something new or recommend to a friend. You can get your free guide here!
Please please please let me know what your favorite products are as I am always looking to try something new! Be sure to share this with a friend who needs to save some money at Whole Foods and don’t forget to find me on Instagram. See you in the next one!
