Okay before you read this let’s take a moment and close our eyes. Everyone’s eyes close? Just kidding you can’t read this if they are! Anyways, think about yourself on vacation. It can be lounging on the beach to traveling around Europe. However, are you starting to feel anxious about your body or what to eat?
Stop those thoughts dead in their tracks! Vacation is about trying new things and relaxing. Think of the last time you’ve relaxed. It has probably been a while right?
I remember when I was younger and my family would go up to Maine once a year. I would tell myself what food I shouldn’t eat or worried about what people would think of my body at the beach. You know what I realized? NO ONE CARES, BUT YOU!
We’re our own worst critic and don’t let that inner voice ruin time with yourself, family, and friends. Now, of course, you could go, eat your soul out, and come back feeling uncomfortable in your skin. It is a matter of finding what works for you. These three tips are what I use to ensure I not only enjoy my vacation but come back ready to kick ass.
Eat Whatever You Want
Now before you say, “Sara you literally just said” let me explain. What I mean by eating whatever you want is maybe going out to eat three times instead of once per week. It could also be ordering something from the menu you’ve never had before. This is what I mean by eating whatever you want. It is meant to not only fulfills your inner cravings but try different foods. You’re somewhere new, why not try something new?
Go Grocery Shopping
If you’re in a camper, hotel, or somewhere with a kitchen, you can cook while on vacation. When I go to Maine, we go camping. What I’ll do is buy vegetables, fruits, meats, and so on that I’d eat during a normal week. Not only will it save you money, but also provide your body with nutrients. You can also purchase snacks and bring them with you. A perfect example would be the beach.
Bring your water with you everywhere! If you don’t have one, treat yourself to a Hydroflask or other fancy bottle. You are on vacation right? This will ensure you’re getting adequate water throughout your travels. Often times when you feel hungry, you could be dehydrated. Add some lemon or berries and mint to your bottle to make it extra delicious!
Even with these tips, remember to enjoy yourself!
